PROGRAM CHANGE on Friday, July 10, at the synagogue!

Aaron Brooks & Joe Kučera (USA/CZ)

Unfortunately, Simone Reifegerste is unable to attend the festival due to health reasons. Aaron Brooks & Joe Kučera (USA/CZ) will perform in place of her trio.

Aaron Brooks, American singer-songwriter with a mesmerizing voice, now based in Munich, Germany, brings his intimate music to Boskovice. The former frontman of the respected band Simeon Soul Charger has a gift for writing songs that sound like the soundtrack to a melancholic road movie. His music uniquely blends the traditions of American folk, darker blues, and 1960s and 1970s psychedelia. Although his studio recordings feature elaborate arrangements, live, Brooks strips away the layers of production to reveal the very core of his songs.

At the festival, he will perform in a special duo with saxophonist and flutist Joe Kučera. Germany, where Brooks now creates his music, became Kučera’s home as early as 1969 after he emigrated from Czechoslovakia. Following a stint in the musical *Hair*, he settled permanently in Berlin and became part of the city’s international music scene. A musician with roots in the horn section of Prokop’s Framus Five, he brings decades of experience to the stage. In the intimate acoustic setting of the synagogue, Brooks’s raw singer-songwriter style will blend with Kučera’s characteristic lyrical tone and open blues-jazz improvisation.
