Watch out for the Hat, Mr. Coubin
Vasil Artamonov, Dominik Forman, Alexey Klyuykov, Ilona Koroman, Otakar Kubin
The exhibition returns "en plein air" painting to the public space of Boskovice with a certain degree of romantic sentiment. The paintings based on reality, which capture still lifes, events and situations, become a pictorial chronicle of the city of Boskovice during several July days. At the same time, they confront the inhabitants with the presence of creative painters in plein air and thus lead us to think about the very figure of the plein air artist as an important socio-visual element in the urban landscape. and who returned to Czechoslovakia in 1951 and settled in his hometown.
After almost two decades, the city of Boskovice is taking over the management of the small Gallery of Otakar Kubín, where it will prepare a program aimed both at artists from the region and at the presentation of interesting events from the entire national scene. The concept is gradually being prepared, however, the city has shown interest in involving GOK in the events during the festival.
As the curator of this space, we approached Jana Písaříková: a curator and art theorist, who has been the curator of the Blanska City Gallery since 2009 and has been collaborating with the Moravian Gallery in Brno since 2014 to process the collection and archive of Jiří Valoch, where she is also the main researcher of the international project Hidden Visegrad Heritage.
Jana will prepare a selection of creators dedicated to realistic painting for GOK for the summer months including the festival - their presentation in Boskovice will be very procedural - a few days before the festival and during the first days of the festival they will work directly in the streets and around Boskovice. The resulting works will be presented at the opening on Saturday at 2 p.m., with the fact that visitors to the festival will be able to continuously monitor the creation of the works.
