Limbo has been among the top of contemporary Czech jazz for 20 years. The band straddles several genres, in fact it is above them.

The unusually cast quartet creates a universal musical collage on a jazz basis. Improvisation, composition, communication and numerous ethnic references intersect strongly throughout the band's existence, with no boundaries limiting the musicians' expression. Trends do not interest the band - they go their own way with a clear and distinct opinion. Their main inspiration in jazz history is the legendary Art Ensemble of Chicago. Their second CD Kalimbo (Amplion Records 2007) was nominated by the Academy of Popular Music (Angel) for Album of the Year 2008 in the Jazz and Blues category. In 2014, the band celebrated 10 years of existence. A documentary LIMBO 2004 - 2014 was made for this anniversary.

The band's leader, saxophonist and clarinetist Pavel Hrubý was nominated for the prestigious Anděl 2015 award in the Jazz Blues category for his solo album Between The Lines (Amplion Records 2014) and in 2022 for his solo album Go Between (AmplionRecords 2021). Oskar Törok is an acclaimed outstanding trumpeter who is a member of elite bands such as Vertigo, Iva Bittová, Wojtek Mazolewski Quintet and has several Angel Awards in the Jazz&Blues category to his credit. Taras Voloshchuk, the double bassist of Limbo, is, for example, an occasional collaborator of the world-famous American pop singer Susan Vega when he performs in Central Europe. Drummer Dušan Černák is a renowned player on the contemporary Czech music scene and leader of his own jazz-rock trio Tryptych.
